Starting Scheduled Sessions

Who starts a scheduled session?

The assigned therapist starts the session from the appointment in their account. Admins and supervisors create the appointment, but the live session is started by the therapist.

Start vs resume

On the appointment page, the action changes based on session state:

• Start session if no therapist session exists yet for that appointment
• Resume session if the therapist already has an in progress session linked to that appointment

What the app creates

When the therapist starts a scheduled session, the app creates a new session linked to the appointment, copies the appointment location, and snapshots the learner's active targets into that session.

When start is blocked

The therapist can only start their own appointment while it is still scheduled. If the appointment already has a completed, submitted, or reviewed therapist session, the app prevents another start from that appointment.
